Have you thought about marketing goals you want to implement for your small business?
If you just sighed and thought,
“I’m barely getting through this year—goals or no goals!”—we totally understand that. Because, well, 2020.
Whether you’re in survival mode, or ready to level-up in your business, we have three goals for you and your small business to consider.
But first, let’s talk about why it’s important to set marketing goals.
Why Marketing Goals Are Important
Ahhh, goals. Sometimes they’re big. Sometimes they’re small.
And hopefully, they keep us inspired to continue reaching.
In business, it’s important to set goals—big and small.
Goals help us when we feel stuck.
Goals help us see how far we’ve come, or how far we have to go.
Goals help us see what’s working and what isn’t.
Marketing goals can also integrate into the financial health of your business. (And what business doesn’t love a higher cash flow?!)
3 Marketing Goals for Your Small Business
When it comes to business, the amount of
goals you want to go for is completely up to you.
These are three we recommend starting with.
You can mix them up however you wish.
If you feel overwhelmed start small—with one or two—and work your way up from there.
We understand nobody wants goal fatigue!
Brand Awareness
Whether you’re aware of it yet or not, inside your business is a brand.
A brand has a voice and personality (the way you communicate to your audience).
It has a presence—from the logo to the aesthetic (color, font, patterns, etc.), right down to the experience the audience has when it interacts with your business.
You can do this by showing up consistently on your
social media accounts, email marketing,
blogging,
website, and even through local news and influencers.
The more people are aware of your brand the better they can get to know you, trust you, and potentially buy from you.
Enhance Customer Experience
If you know your customer, this should be an easy goal to achieve.
Do they want a better website experience when shopping?
Do they want to hear from you more or less?
Tailor communication methods for more options (newsletter frequency).
It’s trickier when you don’t know your customer that well yet, so keep asking questions, get their honest feedback, and plan accordingly.
Bonus tip: write a hand-written letter of gratitude to your customer(s)! Nothing says above and beyond more than snail mail.
Increase Local Search
Local search is a perfect goal for small business.
Start by setting up a Google My Business account and ask customers to leave a Google review.
Bonus tip: Make sure your business name, address, and phone number are consistent across all online accounts to boost your local presence!
So, how do you feel about setting marketing goals now?
If you’re excited, dig in and start mapping them out.
However, if this sounds like another good idea, bookmark it and come back when you’re ready.
That’s the nice thing about goals…they’re always there when you’re ready to start them!
